ACT Training

We believe employment is an important part of human life. Work affects people’s livelihoods and at the same time helps determine their identity and well-being.

But not everyone is in the right place, research has shown that 80% of Dutch employees actually aspire to a different job, but for various reasons are afraid to take this step. In addition, there is a large group of employees who are in the right place but get stuck in their current job due to all kinds of circumstances. (for example re-organization, economic setback and / or private circumstances).

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.

Not daring to take the step to change is more often based on obstructive thoughts than on facts. The Acceptance & Commitment Therapy by Steven C. Hayes (ACT) is a relatively new form of therapy from the stream of positive psychology, which converts limiting thoughts into acceptance of existing problems in order to find a solution that people fully support.

ACT coaches encourage people to embrace their thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them or feeling guilty. The purpose of ACT is to increase well-being by developing psychological flexibility. The coach helps in striving for more acceptance of thoughts and feelings through committed action.

ACT is not aimed at curing…. but on increasing well-being, based on the definition of the World Health Organization (WHO). It argues that mental health is a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his own potential, copes with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and effectively and contribute to his community.

Accept                             : Accept thoughts and feelings, and be present in the moment

Choose                            : Choose values that meet your needs and are meaningful

Take action                    : Take the action that arises from those values

ACT is for everyone

Who does ACT actually work for? The short answer to that question is: for anyone who wants to improve the quality of their life. The focus of ACT is not to reduce the problems, but to improve the quality of life (and work experience).

When do we use ACT.

ACT training or coaching is very suitable for conversations where a change of work is the subject. Both in situations where there is an external factor such as illness or dismissal, but also when there is an internal factor, in other words someone feels that the current work situation does not (anymore) fit well. In addition, ACT is not a vague therapy, but very practical and solution-oriented and therefore suitable for solving human issues in a business context. ACT is a technique that is applied by the coaches in the meetings, without the other having to do anything active and is suitable for all ages and levels.
